The Watch Store

A vintage gold pocket watch with a white face in a cozy room with a fireplace.

Seth Thomas watches carry a unique heritage, beginning with a clockmaker who was born just after the Revolutionary War. His growing factory began making high-grade pocket watches in 1885, producing some of the most gorgeous designs of our railroad era, spanning nearly thirty years until the outbreak of World War I.

Every Seth Thomas pocket watch that we offer has been thoroughly restored with each component matching and fully correct, displaying the ingenuity that made American timepieces a global standard for accuracy, quality, and visual appeal. Discover how it feels to own and carry one of these centuries-old mechanical wonders.

US customers only. No international sales.

Buy Back Policy

There will come a time when you want or need to sell one of the watches that you purchased here. If it's going to a fellow collector or someone who will genuinely appreciate it, then that's fine, but if you're consigning it to an auction house or selling it to your local jeweler or gold hog it will almost certainly end up on eBay in pieces with the case melted down.

Instead of the watch being parted out for the bottom feeders to pick over, we will gladly buy the watch back from you, less 10% and the cost of a COA, plus anything else needed to return the piece to the condition in which you originally bought it.

Payment and Shipping

Payment

We accept PayPal, personal and cashier's checks, money orders, and cash in US dollars.

Shipping

All watches ship free to anywhere in America with tracking. Storage chests and display domes ship separately with tracking. Lanyards, chains, bow protectors, and straps ship with the watch.

We do not ship internationally. Domestic sales only.

Carriers

All watches are shipped via the USPS Ground Advantage option which includes tracking, using a 5x5x5-inch carboard box that will fit most mailboxes. We do not offer any other method such as Registered or Next Day, or use any other carrier like FedEx, UPS or DHL. If you paid with PayPal, the item will be shipped to the address provided by them, unless you tell us differently.

Damage and Loss

As mentioned above, every watch is boxed with plenty of padding and shipped to your specified address with tracking, but if the watch arrives damaged or gets lost in transit it is entirely up to you to open a claim, prove its value and seek restitution from the USPS.

The Warranty

Guarantees of a precise length are a little silly when it comes to antique watches, given how delicate they are and the fact that we cannot control their safety during shipping or after the customer receives it, but if your watch fails within a reasonable amount of time in the very rare event that we missed something we will of course make it right.

This implied warranty is void if:

  • You drop your watch onto anything harder than a pillow.
  • You stick anything into the gear train, like a toothpick or screwdriver.
  • You attempt to reseat, bend, or realign any of the hands.
  • You open the back and spray the movement with oil or WD-40.
  • You let your grandkids or your dog play with it.
  • You shake it violently for any reason (see dog).
  • You magnetize it while attempting to de-magnetize it.
  • You remove it from the case just to see the gears in action.

Yes, all these things have happened shortly after the customer received the watch, causing damaging and requiring a return trip for more work and an invoice to repair it.
